A Cover Letter To My Visitors:
I am responding to the request for employment for your consideration. Please find enclosed my resume showing my education, experience, and background as well as a letter of recommendation from my previous supervisor at the University of North Carolina Press. I am excited to take the next steps in my career with your company. I graduated in May from my Master’s program with 3 years experience in the customer service and communications field, and another 2 years in the journalism and publicity field. I will work diligently to understand and commit wholly to the task at hand. I am looking for a rewarding career in the digital industry. As a journalism student, I learned the value of the written word and would like the opportunity to help creatively in this field.
My Master’s Degree is in Global Journalism, and I have a BS in International Communications with a minor in French. I have Internship experience in publicity with UNC Press, Chapel Hill, as well as business experience with Bell Leadership (Chapel Hill, NC—UNC). I have worked in the AMI executive office, for Indiana University, and
served as the web director for American Student Radio which took first place for the Mark of Excellence award for the Best Independent Online Student Publication and went on to compete nationally.
Throughout my school career, I have received national recognition for outstanding achievement in the French language, as well as two invitations to the National Honors Society. After a semester abroad in Aix-en-Provence, I achieved fluency in this beautiful language. I have been recognized for excellence in writing, as well as producing two now-published theses; one, at the end of my Undergraduate senior year discussing Quebecois Nationalism and the other upon the completion of my Master’s Degree at Indiana University discussing early childhood cognition and its progression through children’s exposure to new media literacies including social and digital media, television advertisements and programs, online edutainment and even handheld devices. I enjoy learning and utilizing new technologies to add a digitally and creatively advanced flare to any project that I am working on. I am a fast learner with a hunger for new information and meeting new people. An important part of business, to me, is making connections with others and learning about their passions and goals. Being a part of the team would help me to excel, because I truly believe that it would be a challenging and rewarding career; as well, my communications background offers an advantage in better understanding the values of the team I would represent and how to best reach people for those purposes based on my ability to read and understand anyone well.
Much of my studies have been focused on advertising and journalism. Additionally, I have experience and interest in creative writing, thesis and technical writing, as well as French language tutoring in grammar, writing, and comprehension. I have an intellectual curiosity as well as a passion for designing and producing content that
leave an imprint in the audience's mind. I eagerly anticipate a phone or in-person interview at your convenience or request at a mutually convenient time.
